Petronas Towers
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
10,700,000 sq ft
The Petronas Towers are the iconic centerpieces of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The design of these 88-story, stainless steel-clad towers, which until 2004 were the tallest buildings on earth, responds to the Malaysian climate and to formal characteristics of the region’s dominant Islamic culture.
The mixed-use development also includes retail space, an art gallery, a multi-media conference center, an entertainment galleria and the 850-seat Dewan Filharmonik Petronas Concert Hall.
The Kuala Lumpur City Centre received an honor award from the American Institute of Architects in 2000, and the Petronas Towers received the 2004 Aga Kahn Award for Architecture.
