Marx Library Lower Level Renovation, Yale University
The Marx Science and Social Science Library is a popular study space in Kline Biology Tower on Yale’s campus. Formerly known as the Center for Science and Social Science Information (CSSSI), the library was previously renovated by Apicella + Bunton in 2011. Our firm was engaged to convert Marx Library’s lower level to additional study space that serves the growing student population on campus.
The renovated space offers over 60 seats for either small group or individual study, including lounge seating, shared tables, and individual study carrels. A comprehensive lighting design, wood accents, and a variety of textures bring warmth to this lower level space.
The lower level also houses unique program elements including a seminar room, digital recording studio and Yale University Library’s contemporary map collection.
