Evans Hall Renovation, Yale School of Management
Apicella + Bunton was engaged for a series of design interventions at Evans Hall, a sleek, steel and curved glass building designed by Foster + Partners in 2014. We reconfigured existing spaces to suit the evolving needs of the Yale School of Management while respecting the spirit and character of the existing architecture.
We worked closely with a number of departments to relocate or adapt existing office suites to meet present and future needs, with a focus on student-facing spaces. The redesign resulted in new private offices, conference rooms, and a large student lounge. The existing interview suite was expanded by over 50 percent to support on-campus interview events.
In all aspects of the renovation, Apicella + Bunton endeavored to harmonize with the existing architectural language of the building. High-end finishes and furnishings were selected, balancing aesthetics with performance and comfort. Accent colors were introduced throughout the renovated areas to reference a series of vibrant Sol LeWitt murals installed in the building.
A new wayfinding signage scheme was designed by our office for the building’s lower level. Lighting was upgraded to LED throughout the renovated areas. Glass storefronts were added to allow previously enclosed spaces to borrow daylight from the building’s expansive atria.
