Dewan Filharmonik Petronas
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 863 Seats
Malaysia’s first concert hall built for the performance of classical music, the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas accommodates a range of other musical performances as well, from solo performers to traditional Malaysian ensembles. The shape of the hall is derived from the traditional shoebox forms of many of the world’s great concert halls due to the superior acoustics provided by this configuration.
In addition, moveable ceiling panels can be adjusted to change the acoustic volume within the concert hall, allowing for maximum flexibility to accommodate a multitude of performance types and sizes.
The concert hall also features a custom-designed concert organ and numerous traditional Malaysian motifs and details. The Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, situated at the base of the Petronas Towers, is a prominent element of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre development.
