Apicella + Bunton was engaged to design a new retail and office space for 20 East Elm Street in Greenwich, Connecticut. The design centers around the adaptive reuse of the existing 24,000 square foot building transforming it into retail space at the ground level and office space above.

The original brick facade facing Elm Street was maintained and restored while the side elevation, adjacent to the parking lot, was redesigned to allow for a new entry to the Urban Outfitters retail store. Office space was created on the second level and is accessed through a separate entry at the front of the building.
The project successfully maintains the materiality and original historic character of the original structure and the street while activating the parking side with a dynamic new entry.
